Greetings from the 2005 CIAS President, Richard H. Cooper
For
most of us, the harsh realities… the tragic consequence of war are
only a memory. But the passage of time makes it even more important
to remember, and to recognize the contribution and the sacrifice
made by so many. 2005 is an important time to reflect on this
because this year marks the 60th anniversary of the end of the
Second World War. The Honourable Albina Guarnieri, Minister of
Veterans Affairs, has declared 2005 the
Year of the Veteran….
And the CIAS has decided to dedicate this years show to all
Veterans, and their immense contribution to our way of life.
We
started preparation for the 2005 Airshow last December. Our plans
are firming up nicely and we have some exciting aircraft that will
be participating in the show. The Toronto waterfront venue has an
established reputation throughout the circuit as truly unique.
The
show only exists because of the backing of our Sponsors. It takes a
huge financial commitment to stage a show of this size… and feature,
year after year, the best aviation performers, with an unfailing
commitment to safety.
Volunteers are the other half of our recipe for success, with over
one hundred and fifty people volunteering their time, and in many
cases, financial support. The result is that Toronto’s Canadian
International Airshow enjoys a reputation second to none in the
industry. We welcome all the enthusiasts and visitors to the 2005
CIAS…. and if you see someone in a red CIAS shirt… tell them how
much you appreciate their efforts.
I
look forward to seeing you all at the show.
Richard H. Cooper
